Panera Granola Recipe

I looked for this recipe on-line and found one. The problem was it was not complete. Several parts where missing. So after getting almost finished with the recipe I noticed that a few items were not in the directions I had to alter it a little. Hey it turned out pretty good. Here is the orginal recipe I found. Below is what I made. I am pretty pleased with it myself.

18oz package of old-fashioned oats
1 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup maple Syrup
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup raisins ( optional)
Preheat oven to 300 F. In a bowl mix the oats, pecans, brown sugar, coconut, salt and cinnamon. In a saucepan warm the syrup, oil and honey. Whisk in vanilla. Carefully pour the liquid over the oat mixture. Stir gently with spoon. Spread granola on 2 baking sheets. Bake 50 minutes, stirring carefully every 10 minutes. (Granola will be still wet, it will harden when as it cools)Transfer granola-filled pan to a rack to cool completely. Stir in raisins (optional). Seal granola in an airtight container or self-sealing plastic bag. Store at room temperature for 1 week or in the freezer for 3 months.

Mix with Fresh fruit and organic yogurt. Enjoy

It was premiered last night

Why are the male species so damn frustrating. I get one signal one minute and then another a second later. I confront him and then it is like he has fallen off the face of the earth. I laid it all out in an email because he occasionally he does read his email. He does not answer my call or texts. Why do they play these games. I did speak with his sister and she says I am too good for him. I don't know what it is but it just feels right when I am with him. Damn him.. Life is getting ready to get a lot crazier and he does not even know it. His life was heading down the road to something close to normal. And there is another bump in the road coming soon and he does not even know it. It is bad that I get the information before he does. It is one heck of a bump..

frustrated.. So frustrated..

Why is it that men have to be so complicated. Men say women are complicated. That is because you guys make us that way.

Here is the deal. I have always had a place in my heart for this one guy. A guy I have loved for years (I mean almost 20 years.) He is the guy that gets that little flutter in the pit of my stomach every time I am around him. All those years life as got in the way but for some reason we are always brought back together. So as I am pretty sure in my previous entry. I asked him out for dinner at Outback. Around 3pm that day he said he was tied up at a funeral of a local fire fighter. He said he would call later and we could could meet up for drinks. No did not hear from him that night or any night over the next 2 weeks. I call and leave a voicemail on his sisters cell to see how she is doing. She finally calls back last Wednesday. It turns out his dad has been having some heart problems and is scheduled for open heart surgery on Friday. I had a baby bag for her of formula samples and stuff. I offer to bring it to her at the hospital while they are waiting for him to come out of surgery. I go up to L&D to give her the bag because Anette is getting an NST. Low and behold Tony was there so she would have someone to talk to. He ask me to sit on his knee because there is only one chair in there. He puts his hand on my hip and rubs my back with his thumb. He noticed I did not have my glasses and my hair color is a little different. He just acts like he is interested. Around 6 they have gone and seen him and pack up to go home. He drives me back to my car which I had left at my office since I work right next to the hospital. We end up talking for 2 hrs standing in the parking lot. Saturday I call and leave a message to check and see how he is doing. He calls me back. Sunday I leave a voicemail on his sister's voicemail to see how he is doing. Monday I call as I am leaving work. I end up meeting him at the hospital and go up with him to visit his dad. We end up going back to his house and were suppose to have dinner. We ended up watching TV. I leave around 9:30 because I have to do some things before I go to bed. I don't bother him Tuesday. Wednesday he is at work but he sent me a text about his dad. Thursday he calls and says he is heading to dinner with this mom & sister and that he would call me a little later. Today as I was finishing up my work day (around 12), I sent a text to see if they wanted to go see the new X-men Origins movie. Nothing. Still nothing. Why do they have to be so puzzling. Men. You wonder why women are so emotional. It is because you guys confuse the HELL out of us. The man even trusted me to fill out his deposit sheet, play in his wallet and count his cash. His family loves me. What is the flippin' problem. Do you like me or don't you. I know things are busy but you need some time for yourself.

I have been a slacker. I have been busy between family, work and work.. I have had my father down at the beginning of the month. Working long hours. Last Saturday went to Disney with the boys. Then yesterday Epcot and Magic Kingdom for mom's birthday. Ladies.. Eye candy. This was the scene at the Spirit of Aloha show at the Polynesian hotel. This was nice..

Vent: Why is it when you spend an hour holding down the perfect position for the fireworks. then a third of the way through the fireworks the people in front of you plop a kid on their shoulders and is right in the middle of your photos.. Frustrating...

Granny get you pan???

Did you see the news blip on the Today show Saturday. They had a little grandmother take on some intruders. She hit on of the men with a frying pan. She is 70 years old and the wife of a Judge. Watch the interview here. She took her Emeril Frying pan and took this guy out. She is most upset because she no longer has her favorited frying pan. So Emeril and the Today show are both sending her new cookware. I think this is great. Just shows these fools never assume granny aint armed...

Earmarks in Bills

Have you heard what they have in these bills they are trying to get us to pay for.

a bill for Morman crickets?? Are the male crickets in limted supply and need multiple cricket wives??

A bill to have control the beaver population in New Orleans - Okay that could be taken a few different ways. Has the beaver in the big easy really gotten that out of hand. So are they impeding on each others corner? Oh come on.

Money to help with the odor from pigs in Iowa - SOAP.. Hello they are PIGS! Pigs smell. they play in mud.

Money for genetic research on grapes - Is there a run in paternity among the grape population? They are grapes.

These have got to be the stupidest things to add to bills. Hey why not add something like support the ARTS.. Help the Local Scrapbook Stores.... That is helpful on multiple way - Mental therapy, preserving the past, bringing families together and physical therapy.

The nerve of people..

Tonight I had to fill up my little Rav4. I stopped at the place where I feed my Slurpee addiction (7eleven). I was pumping gas. I see this beat up, paint peeling, dented and muddy red minivan at the pump across from me. It had papers and empty coffee cups across the dash. The guy pumped his gas. He then walks over the to little squeegee window cleaner. Head back to his care and cleans the window. I then notice that he starts squeegeeing the dirt off his driver door. He then moves to the tire and cleans it. He works his way all around his vehicle. So he used the thing we use to get the buggies who decided to out in front of you as you drive 70 mph down the highway. So now who ever uses it next will get their windshield scratched because he did not want to run it through a car wash. Well when I went in to get my crack-in-a-cup (sorry I drink the Coke and Mountain Dew mixed - The best) I told the cashier what he was doing and she was shocked. So now think twice before using the squeegee at the service station because it may have been used to wash someones van..

A trip to the book store..

Have you ever noticed that they publish a book and then a few years later they pull it and put a new cover and then plant it back on the shelf. I have seen this with several of the series of books I have or are reading. L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries have been pulled all the books (at the time 4 books). They pulled them stuck 4 books in 2 books and then they are back on the shelf. I have noticed about another one of his series of books. Charaliane Harris, her books are very hard to find at the moment. You can the find the first of the Southern Vampire series back on the shelf with a new cover thank to HBO. They have a new series called True Blood. I must say it is pretty strange to watch. The series is pretty close to the book so far. There are some crazy changes to the plot. They have started reprinting the Harry Potter series. Although I must say there are what 6 or 7 covers already. I will admit I have 2 complete sets of the series (US & UK releases). Sorry I like the series. I have noticed since I purchased my final book in the Harry Potter series I have been reading more. And lately I have been reading even more. That is one reason I have not been posting to often. For Christmas I was given a Kindle e-book. I am in LOVE with it. I am on my 7th book since I got it. It is amazing how quick you can read with it. You can change the font. You can download a book ANYWHERE. So I started the Southern Vampire series the Monday after New Years and I am now on Chapter 9 if the 7th book. I have never read this fast. I admit I have ADHD and can not concentrate long enough to finish a book with in a month or even a year. I now love to read. Thank you Amazon. My bank account has some other words for you. Well I am running away to see what Sookie is up to...

A funny & something just wrong..

Okay the funny. I was sent this website with a video. This a the speech a best man gave. You will laugh your butt off. The Freaky Best Man.

Okay last week a woman gave birth to 8 babies at once. Okay yes it is a miracle but unnecessary. This woman already had 6 children (One of which has autism). She did this so she could get another girl. She does not have a job. She is not married. Her children all have come from the same sperm donor (can you imagine his surprise when 14 children show up on his door step). Her parents had to move in with her and her children in a 2 bedroom home. Can you imagine 15 to 17 people in a 2 bedroom home. Her parents filed for bankruptcy last year. She did this because she is obsessed with having kids. I am sorry there is a lot wrong with this. Her parents bought her a home for her and her kids. She could not make the payments so her parents stepped in. They in turn lost their home and had to move in with her. If she could not way her mortgage then she should not be paying for IVF. How is she going to pay for these children and their medical bills. This kids are going to need a lot in the medical department for the rest of their lives. How did she pay for this? It can cost $15000 to do IVF. Who is going to pay for these kids? I don't think it should be the people of her state that should pay for these children. It was not their choice. This was done for a totally greedy reason. She has robbed her parents of their life and stability. It is not fair for those children. As for the IVF clinic you guys need to draw the line somewhere. You have no business putting 8 embryos in at one time. That is insane. Humans were not meant to carry a litter of kids. As a young girl I love children but I would never consider having 8 embryos implanted. Anyways my family would have me committed for a psychological evaluation. She needs help. It is now posted that she want 2 million from the media for interviews. This is insane. News Article.

I am sorry if you do not share my feelings but it is my blog and this is how I feel.

A day in history..

If you do not know what is happening today then you must be living in a box. Today George W. Bush steps down from a roller coaster of events in his 8 years as a president to turn over the leadership to Barack H. Obama. Thank You George W. Bush for your leadership through the last 8 years. You have showed us strength when we were attacked by some irrational individuals. You showed support when our loved ones went to war to help people who is in need of help to create a better government. You cared when Mother Nature decided to throw a temper tantrum and cause destruction around the world. You term has been a rough one and you have worked your hardest to do your best but fortune was not always on your side. You have done an amazing job. Thank you. Today we welcome a new leader who will do the same. He will do his best to lead our country in a better direction. No one know what hurdles he will have to overcome in the next 4 years. The world is forever changing and you have a great weight on your shoulders. God bless you and your family as you create a home in the White House. May your road not be as rough ask it has in the recent past. Good Luck Mr. Barack H. Obama our 44th President of these United States of America.

The History Channel gets interesting...

Okay what person really likes to watch the History Channel. I must admit that I do watch it at Halloween time because that is when all the Haunted History and Ghost shows come on. Well at least not on a Friday Night. Until now.. I was channel surfing and are flipping through the channels and something catches my eyes - Sex and the Civil War. I have never laughed so hard at something on the History Channel. I highly Recommend it. Did you know that at one time 40% of the army had venereal disease. It is amazing to see what when on during the war. In Nashville, they legalized prostitution and created a women's hospital that treated the women with venereal disease. There was also a Menes hospital also. There was a woman named Anna Jones who preferred generals and had quite a list of generals in her little black book. Some names on her list were Kilpatrick & Custer. Did you know in the civil war time whore houses once occupied the property that now houses the IRS. So no matter what has been built on that piece of property someone has and will always get screwed. It is now on to volume two - More Sex and the Civil War. See history can be interesting. Thing that make you go hummmm....

US Airways...

I must say Way to go to the Pilots and crew of the flight that took a dip in the Hutson river. You are the new heros of the day. Way to go. If I my ever be in an emergency I hope my crew is as talented as you. God Bless you.

Heck it took me long enough.

So here is the whole run down.
December 24th - We worked until 3pm. Yep you read that right - 3pm. I came home took a short nap. It was a busy day. We collected money and food for one of our previous OB patients who has hit an extremely hard patch. Her husband lost his job, they lost their house, they are living in a travel trailer and she lost her mother recently. The in-laws took them to dinner. She went outside to nurse the baby and someone stole her purse with their money, food stamps and her mother's jewelry in it. They had nothing. So we collected enough stuff to help them get through this troubled time that was suppose to be the happiest time of the year. Mom & I opened presents that evening. I got an Amazon Kindle. Yeah. This thing is the greatest.
December 26th - I boarded a plane in Orlando to Greensboro with a layover in Atlanta. Well of course we made great time until we hit Atlanta. The fog moved in. I truly do not think it ever moved out. It was incredible and scary to see. The planes were taking off and disappearing before the tail was off the ground. I went and got a snack and some reading at Chili's. We were told to go to gate D31. Well at the time we were suppose to take off it was pushed to 3pm. Then we moved to D27. Then it was pushed to 315pm. then 330pm and back to D31. Then it was announced that our plane was here and we would be boarding at 4pm from D27. We boarded and the pilot says the fog is moving in and they needed to take a different route so they needed more fuel. so 45 minutes sitting in the little plane on the tarmac we finally take off 2 hours late. I finally land in Greensboro. My dad meet me at the airport. My stepmother is at home because she is not feeling well. Which I do not mind. I don't get to spend too much time with my dad. We go home and have some left overs. It was great.
otherwise the trip goes as usual. My stepmother is constantly in shopping mode. She did have a down time on Sunday and Monday. She came down with a kidney infection and ended up at urgent care and they gave her drugs and she slept most of those 2 days. They did allow me to cook - So I made Chicken and Rice Casserole. They liked it. My aunt & uncle came over on his way home from Baptist Hospital. He was diagnosed the day before that he has a blood clot at his pic line. They gave him some medication that for 10days it is $1445.00. Of course insurance does not want to pay for it. My stepmother is having a fit about the cost. I explained to my stepmother that it is the medicine that I will have to inject myself with when I get pregnant. Boy did I surprise her. I explained that is why I am hoping for twins to get it over once. On New Years Eve it is time to head home. I have never thought I was going to crash until my way home. The plane took some scary turns and drops. Of course we were 20mins late takng off. When we landed in Atlanta the pilot let those with short connections get off first. That was lucky. So it is 110pm and my plane to Orlando leaves at 150pm. I am, you guessed it D31 and have to A2. So I walk to distance to the A terminal and as I am walking up they are boarding the plane. So much for stopping to get something to nibble on. So I get to my seat. I am lucky that they have have not put anyone next to me. Then just at the last minute they put someone there. This veteran that of course had to make comments about how it is amazing that this tiny wings can carry such a big plane. Oh good heaven, just what you want to hear after the first leg of the trip. So I make back to the main terminal of the airport. Mom tells me that Uncle Bobby had to go back to the hospital because he had an episode. Well his sugar was in the 300's when I was there and that is what I figuired it was. It ended up to be one of his meds giving him a fit. Otherwise things are back to it's normal crazyness. Now you are up to spead. Oh I did make some money babysitting twice so far. Happy new year.

Just a thought

Okay is it 4am. I am wide awake.. Okay.. What is the deal with the amish making electronic heater/fireplaces???

Why do they sell Rosetta stone language CD's in the airport??? If you were traveling someplace where they did not speak english. I don't think the 12 hour flight is going to help you find yourself around.

Okay I think I will try and get some sleep. If not I will be back...I will update you later today about the family dramas.. That has not happend in a few weeks..
