Have you taken any fall looking pictures to scrap yet?

I must say Fall is not really a season in Florida. Our seasons kind of overlap.

--Snow bird season (when all the elderly from up north head south for a warmer climate)

--Spring/Fall (They are pretty much the same. It occasionally gets nippy or down right chilly for a few then it is extremely comfortable. You may have to put a jacket and jeans on. Hey it starts getting nippy when the temps are in the 50's.)

--Summer (the time of year when you are ready to melt. The tourists are a nice pink colored and the roads have become safe again from the snowbirds)

--Hurricane (June 1st to November 30th. It is a fearful time. A time when you stock up on Bottled water, gas, tarps, Canned food, snack foods, batteries. We oil the storm shutters, check the plywood and test the generators. Watch the weather reports praying that nothing is developing in the tropic. Our cars stay topped off with gas just incase something is heading our way to make a quick escape. Northerns have have snow days we have hurricane days.)

This is the time of evening storms. They are usually not as bad the summer thunderstorms. These are from the other night. There was some occasional lightning but I was not able to capture it on film. It was all hiding behind the causeway.

Challenge~
Do you find yourself taking pictures at gathering/event.. So that the person hosting/throwing the event has them for future layouts?

I do end up taking photos at events. Most people know I always carry a camera. It is always with me. I even carry it into work. I take the pictures so the hostess can have fun and enjoy her party.

Sad Panda......

I am extremely sad. I just read an email from the owner of the Local scrapbook store is closing her doors. The store has been there for 9 years. I guess it will save me money in the long run but I loved going there. It was some place to escape. It was a creative outlet. It is extremely depressing.

Look where I stayed last night..

I got to stay at on the Disney property at the... Grand Floridian resort and spa.. Yeah. This place was amazing..

This is the Wilderness Lodge and a beautiful cloud formation.

These are the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. They are behind the Contemporary Hotel and their new addition.

The last two pictures are from the hotel. The first is from my room and the second is off one of the entrances of the hotel buildings.

The boys and I had a blast. We had dinner reservations at Citricos. We rode the boat over to Fort Wilderness to watch the evening movie and to roast marshmallows by the campfire. Then we caught the end of the fireworks and water parade. The boys fell asleep on the monorail on the way back to the hotel. When we hit the room door the started stripping off the clothes and headed to the bed. They were beyond kind and got me my own room. I jumped in the shower and was craving a soda. I ran to Gasparilla Grill & Games, the 24 hr snack shop and got me a soda and rice crispy treat and just sat back and stared at the purple Cinderella's castle just beyond the trees. There was a great breeze and it was just a beautiful night. For some reason someone kept calling the room at 725am and 8am. So I got dressed and went for coffee and a short walk around the grounds. Also squeezed in a little shopping. We had a late breakfast at 1900 Park Fare - Character Dining. Now it is back to the everyday grind. I do not want to go back to work. YUCK..

Blog Challange..

Have you started to make Christmas gifts?

No... I really do no make presents. I just start trying to figure out whar what people would like. Now a days that is almost impossible to think of.

I was watching the season premiere of bones earlier this week. In the show they say that it is considered lucky to see the Tower Bridge in the open position. We I must admit that I have seen the Tower bridge in the open position. I was even lucky enough to get it on film.

This was on my 2006 trip to London.
To be back there now...

Storms, Sandbags and Cancer... oh my..

I woke up to rain hitting my window. I woke up late of course. Why it is so hard to get up. I can easily sleep until noon. Most nights I can not fall asleep until 1 or 2 am. Some nights even later. So I awake to black angry clouds. My nights sleep inturpted by rain and hail hitting the house. No wonder I am tired. So get dress and head out into the windy world to work. So off the coast is Tropical Storm Hanna. Aparently she wanted to check out the place where her friend Fay decided to park. Throughout the day the rain fell and the wind blew. Head headed north to visit the Carolina coast. Hanna is the least of our worries. There is a monster sitting off our coast. His name is Ike. Ike's path changes with each release from the Hurricane center. Since Brevard county was drowned by T.S. Fay the county set up some sand bag stations throughout the county. For some reason they set most of those stations in the Central part of the county. I head to one of the 2 south are stations. Mom got her 10 bag and I got my 10 bags. So I come home and unload 20 bags. I distribute them around the house. Mom thinks she can unload them and is driving me nuts. So in the process of stacking sandbags the garage get a slight cleaning. Since with Fay we had a small river through the garage. It is bad enough the storms are triggerng the weather sensors thoughout my left side. Moving those 20 sandbags and those sensors are are extremely pissed off. After a shower, a motrin 800, a muscle relaxer and an ice pack and I'm back to that comfortable place.

And now to the Cancer part. My uncle Bobby is home. His bone marrow is clean of cancer cells and he can go home for a little while until his bone marrow transplant. He will return to the hospital in a few weeks for the bone marrow transplant. He has a set back a few days ago because of a fever. That is because of an infected tooth. That is what they say. I am sure it is because of some naughty thoughts my aunt whispered in his ear... I know I am bad. Well being down brings your ablilty to fight an illness down. So laughter is great for your health.

Winds a blown..

The winds are picking. Hanna is off shore. I wish I could move my bed to the back porch and not get eaten alive or bugs walking all over me.. eeekkkk.... It is an amazing breeze. It is still too warm to do it with now to open the windows and enjoy the breeze. Off too bed. Had dinner at the Chart House. They gave us food and Wine and now I am relaxed enough to get some sleep..

The TV shows --- Bones..

Tonight was the premiere of Bones on Fox. It was filmed in England. It was filmed at the Bodleian Library. I have been there. Yes I have.. I stood exactly where that was filmed. Oxford Virtual Tour. We stayed at the Randolph Hotel. It is so neat to see someplace you have visited on TV. It makes me realized how much I would love the move to England. I don't know how to explain it but I felt like that is where I belong. My body enjoyed it there. Little or no preservatives in the food. I was feel of my allergy meds medications. Okay back to the show. They also did a lot of filming in London. that us That is were I would love of to move live. I know people complain about the dollar being so week. But uf if you really look at the cost of things. A flat to let(ie Apartment for rent) is about 200 to 500 pounds. Well around here that is about right. A studio here is about $700. Hell in California $700 dollars my buy you a cardboard box or a stall in a bathroom. (sorry an 800 sq. ft. home going for $300,000 is fucked up insane) To be quite honest if the tropics do not settle down then I might be moving over sooner then later. But I felt like I could be my own person. Be Christy. I would not be forces to do as my mother wants. It is just were I felt at ease. I would miss my family, some of my friends and the families I babysit for. But I would not miss things here. I know that is sad to say but I feel it in my heart.

Tropics update - We have Hanna who is like the puppy chasing it's tail going here and there and does not have a clue where she wants to go. Behind her is her every strengthening brother Ike. He is already a Category 3 (as of 11pm he is a Category 4) - not good Oh Crap!!!. He might be following him his big brother Gustva's tracks. Gustva made landfall Monday in Louisiana. He luckily went from the Category 4 storm when he went into the Gulf of Mexico to weaken to a Category 2. He did a lot of damage bit but luckily it was not what it could have been. And following these storms is little sister Josephine. Yes 4 storms in 10 DAYS... Wanna play with something cool. On Local 6 they have a Hurricane Tracker. You can see the current tracks of present and past storms. It is fun to watch the little dots move across the map. Check out Hanna and see how confused she is. There are still homes throughout the central part of the state that are flooded from Tropical Storm Fay. Well I much must go to bed.

Why????

Why can life be so cruel?? Someone who I care a lot about found out she was pregnant last week. Her blood levels were raising beautifully, until today. Today we repeat her level and they went down instead of doubling. I know it would will crush her. Man my heart hit the floor so hard.

Good Quotes...
Max: you know what is as good as sex? Ice Cream..
Carrie: I would rather have sex..

It is so true..

I won....

I can not believe it but I won a scrapbooking contest. Yes it would be only the second time ever. I don't really count the first one since there were only two entries. A store/website was holding a contest using their first exclusive die. While being stuck in the house with T.S. Fay I came up with the idea of making a story book. A couple hours later and I had a completed book.

Check out the announcement. I won the their new exclusive die. Yeah. I think it is a beautiful die. I am sooo shocked..

Hurricane Season..

Things are picking up and apparently they have their eyes on Florida. This is a cartoon in the local paper Saturday. It is by Jeff Parker and it speaks volumes. Except now behind the Hard Place add a couple more storms. So later this week we are going to get a visit from Hurricane Hanna and maybe next week we will have a visit from Ike and then maybe a visit from Josephine. Oh good gracious. This morning Hurricane Gustva hit Louisiana. Luckily he went from a Category 4 that he was in the Gulf to a Category 2 she hitting land. They have some flooding in New Orleans but nothing as bad as after Katrina. It seems like the storms of 2004 and 2005 have come to life and strike again in 2008. They are estimating 60+ MPH winds later this week from Hanna. No one knows what or where Ike is heading. The kids of Brevard have already used 4 of their 5 hurricane days. (The northeners get Snow days we get Hurricane days. I remember my senior year having to use some of those hurricane days. That is life in a coastal city.

This is a very bad picture from the newspaper. This is my co-workers backyard. That is a 5 ft fence and that is a floating lil' tikes sandbox (it is empty). She had 9inches in the house. She luckily added flood insurance to her home owners policy in the beginning of June. Who would have thought that 90 days later she would have use that policy. Her son and his family live in the next subdivision were the only ones in their neighborhood that did not flood.

So please everyone send prayers for the people being effected by Hurricane Gustva and all of those who may be in the eyes of the storms lined up on the Atlantic.
